  Honda vs. Oldsmoble

  believe it or not i've purchased two cars (oldsmobile) through the borg connection - the circuit leasing group.

  admittedly both cars were pretty reliable and pretty maintenance free.

  the first car i brought from them i had to pick it up at bethel, a brother was driving it up from texas.

  Hi Larry!! My family as a whole are avid Honda Fans... I personally drive a 1991 Honda Accord LX with 170+ miles on it and it drives like a dream.... The interior is great.... with minor flaws. I take pride in my car.... and take good care of it! All I can tell you is that I've owned a Toyota, Nissan, Ford and 2 Hondas and now I will drive Hondas only, with Nissan trailing right behind! The hondas... any make are great w/ mileage and have the most up to date equipement on their interior..... We will be traveling to Atlanta GA in September to a car show made up of mostly Hondas if that tells you anything about how much we like them!! Good luck to you and your new investment, I'm sure you'll love it! Keep me updated as to how you like it!!

  Amway, Quixtar, etc. vs. WTS

  amway, quixtar, and other mult-level marketing schemes vs. wts.. if there is anything an ex-jw cult member would recognize, it would be another cult!

  i say that b/c my uncle is an 'hardcore' quixstar member (ibo) and the more i talk to him the more similarities i see btw quixtar and the borg.

  of course he doesn't see quixtar being cult-like but to some one on the outside looking in the organizations mirror each other.

  Hi Larry... I too was presented with Quixtar, and although I think those schemes are a little weird, I never quite thought of it as a cult. However, if you compare the similarities, you'll see that both offer HUGE almost SURREAL rewards to its members.... while the founders of the scheme really are MILLIONAIRES.... They have people who dedicate MUCH of their time energy and money in hopes of reaching that millionair status.... Thanks for pointing that out to me.... But let me ask you, have you ever heard of a branch of CitiFinancial (formerly Citibank) that offers "financial planning" where they do offer financial planning but are more interested in "recruiting" new members? Just wondering!

  My B/F told me he's a J/W after months of dating!

  hi, i'm 17 and i've just recently become a member of this website and i want you to know what has happened to me over the past months.back in sep/oct 2001 i started chatting to a 20 year old bloke via the internet and we developed a great friendship over the net.we would talk online for ages,text and phone each other loads,we sent each other photos of ourselves and he would often put his webcam on for me to see.before i knew it he played a great part in my everyday life...and i spent so much time chatting to him that my college work suffered a lot & i wasn't doing my coursework (i eventually got told to leave as i hadn't done loads of the assignments and stuff & had fallen behind).

  after about 6 months we arranged to meet up (i made sure my parents were at home coz i know it's dodgy to meet people from the internet).anyway,he came round my house one evening in march and we got along soo well...he lives quite locally too which was good.our friendship then grew into a relationship and we started dating and going out together,i was sooo happy and i fell for him in a massive way & he said he felt the same way too.to me,he was a girls dream come true...he was kind,caring,fit,good-looking & gentle and i loved him to bits!,i still do,and i thought we'd be together forever.

  something that i did find a bit strange though was i hadn't met his family yet or heard my boyfriend talk much about them.i would question him about his family but he seemed to get a bit funny about it and when i mentioned about meeting his family he said something along the lines of ''they're a bit strange,you might not like them'' (or something like that anyway).that got me thinking and i though prehaps they lived in a run-down place or something,or they wern't very nice people and i thought my b/f could be ashamed to let me meet them.i thought to myself to give him time & he'll see that i'm an understanding & nice person and hoped that he would soon come out and tell me what the problem was (thinking it was about what i've just mentioned).

  Welcome! You are very brave to have entered and continued a relationship w/ him after finding out he is a JW. From personal experience, and I hate to break it to you....but, this relationship will not last forever. I was raised as a JW and the first guy a fell in love with was "worldly". My parents found out through some of my closest "friends" at the KH. The freaked out. I was then labeled as bad assoication. As will your boyfriend if your relationship becomes public knowledge.

  My question is: Is he baptized? The reason I want to know is, if he's 20 y/o, and he's not baptized yet, that may be good for you. Most JW youths are baptized well before their 18th b-day, if they are "spiritually minded". If he is, then just WALK AWAY. Should he decide to be with you, he will lose his entire "life" i.e. family, friends, and love. MOST, but not all, JW's show conditional love and teach conditional love, that is how those who are raised in it stay in it, for fear of losing all they know. That is a very scarey place to be, so until that person is ready to enter the reality of losing EVERYTHING they've ever known, you may be SOL.

  Just a sidenote.... I was 18 when I married my 1st husband, who was/is a JW. It only lasted a few months before he became violent with me, and when I went to the church to seek help, they told me to be a "good wife". Thanks to him, I began to see how a$$ backwards these people are. Long story short: We divorced after 3 years of marriage, and 1/2 of that time he lived with his parents. Unfortunately, we were too young and immature to be married, and adding in my independent thinking, the marriage was doomed.

  On a happier note: I am married to a wonderful NON JW man, and we'll be celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary this DEC!! We also have a beautiful daughter who is 3 and will NOT be held back and stiffled by the JW cult.

  Think long and hard about what all of us "strangers" have told you. We don't know him or you for that matter, but we know the organization and what it does to people's lives. You know the old saying "when in doubt, do without". Good Luck to you! :)

  Tera: Hey!! That is the best part of that movie, for me at least!! The point is though, if it is common knowledge in the world how rude and disgruntled they are when you make your own choice about whether to listen to them or not, then WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE FOOLING with they're "we're humble servants of Jehovah" talk????   I understand that all people are capable of being rude, snotty, and my personal fave....condescending<sp?>. HOWEVER....I never could understand HOW as a JW you are supposed to be kind and loving to all people, especially those who aren't in the "truth" because they don't have the hope that JW's do, yet and still when they "decline" the message of God, many times I've seen JW's bad mouth the individuals while leaving their doorstep....Anyone see the movie "Friday"........just picture that..... :) Having been raised as a dub, I was raised around the "I'm better than you attitude", yet I never quite fit the mold.....I've always been friends with everyone!! But I have to agree, I would have called her out on her lack of "christian love", and the judgemental attitude. The thing I'm not understanding is, did she know you? If not that's even worse. Oh well I'm not GOD, and I'm not here to judge, just stating my opinion!! :)

  i am new to these boards, but there is one thing i just don't get.

  correct me if i am wrong, but most, not all, of these boards are for what i like to call "recovering ex jw's".

  so then why is it, that we have "active jw's" posting on these boards.

  Hello to all! I am new to these boards, but there is one thing I just don't get. Correct me if I am wrong, but most, not all, of these boards are for what I like to call "recovering Ex JW's". So then why is it, that we have "active JW's" posting on these boards. I mean do they think they're going to "save" us??? I went to another site this a.m. that has a plethora of different types of religions, and beliefs, and of course I checked out the JW side..... There were so many posts or shall I say "ANGRY" posts from active JW's. Aren't they supposed to avoid assoications with those like us? I mean doesn't "bad associations spoil useful habits"? Yet and still we have these wonderful christians posting argurmentative statements....I just don't get it!

  TO SIMON: Thank you so much for creating this board, it really has been a wonderful source of therapy for me....Helps knowing I'm not alone!!
